Aahh.. The Victoria's Secret Angels. Goddesses of perfection brought down from heaven to mankind - also the source of jealousy among many, many women. While I'm not exactly jealous of them (only sometimes. No really), I have to admit I admire them.  Come on, what woman wouldn't like to look drop dead gorgeous? If you don't, then tell me again why do you shop for nice clothes again, girls?


Which is why I've started out this - The Victoria's Secret Angel of the Month!

And this month, I've chosen my all-time favourite Angel - Alessandra Ambrosio.

A smokin' hot Brazillian model, Alessandra knew that she wanted to be a model since she was 8 years old. It all started when she spotted a picture of top covergirl Karen Mulder in a magazine. She wanted to be like her. She then took up modelling classes at 12. When she touched 14, she was one of 20 finalists for an elite modelling competition in Brazil.

Besides her perfectly sculpted body, there is something I love very much about Alessandra - her eyes. Piercing and absolutely mysterious, she makes me wonder if she were peering into my very soul, every time I look at her in pictures.

Best known for her work with Victoria's Secret, Alessandra was chosen to be the first spokesperson of their "PINK" line. She is currently one of Victoria's Secret Angels and has modeled for brands such as Armani Exchange, Ralph Lauren, and Christian Dior. 

Aside from modelling, Alessandra acts as an ambassador for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. 

She's also been selected by AskMen.com as one of the "Top 99 Most Desirable Women of 2008". She finished in second place.

And it's really no wonder.

But I've got bad news, men. In case you don't already know, she's married. With two kids. Sorry boys. The lucky man? Jamie Mazur, a Californian businessman.

Sorry, can't get pictures of baby number two. As far as I (and possibly the rest of the world know), little Noah Phoenix Ambrosio Mazur was born on May 7, 2012. Her first child, is Anja Louise Ambrosio Mazur.

Out of the many, many lingerie she's modelled in for Victoria's Secret, my favourite has to be this.

A sparkling navy and black bra, accessorised with 23-carat Swarovski Elements encrusted wings. She flaunted this during the 2011 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show at the Lexington Avenue Armory in NYC.

This, I felt, brought out the exotic air that she exudes. Making her almost goddess-like. Ever since I saw her in this, I was utterly gobsmacked. I can't take the image off my mind.

Here's the best part. Aside from a botched plastic surgery to pin back her ears a while back, everything else about Alessandra, is au naturale. Perfect skin, perfect body, gorgeous eyes and amazing features... Yup. While the rest of us are frantically dieting and exercising to keep in shape, her diet consists of "eating whatever I want", and she lost 40 pounds of her pregnancy weight in just two months. 

I'll bet you ladies are burning with jealousy right about now. 

Oh, and she's only 29.

Although she's already made a few appearances on TV and Film (and owning her very own Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame), Alessandra states that she wishes to keep climbing the acting ladder till she's able to work with her favourite directors, Quentin Tarantino and Tim Burton and her acting crush - Johnny Depp. 

I'm pretty sure we'll be seeing a lot of Alessandra then.

iWearSin.com: Customize

Hello beautiful people.

When iWearSin.com relaunched their website, I initially thought it was simply a revamp. You know... Sleeker interface, nicer pictures and so on. But when I finally got down to checking out their new site, I was in for a really nice surprise.

Sure, they did come back with better pictures, a gorgeous new layout and the like, but what really got me excited, was their brand new feature.

Customisable clothes done online.

Who'd have thought? I've yet to find any online boutique who's done this before. Cross my heart and swear to God. 

I just had to jump onto the bandwagon. And I have to say, I'm so glad I did. 

Here's how you do it. 

1. Pick a SIN, any SIN. 

2. Get creative.

Choose from any of these pretty accessories.

Then drag and drop them and arrange them as you like to prettify the outfit of your choice..

Click on the outfit and drag your cursor from left to right in order to rotate it 360 degrees.

This allows you to decorate every single inch of the outfit, if you wish to.

3. Name it and add it to your shopping bag, or submit to community.

Give your design a nice name, then select "Add To Bag" if you wanna have it in real life. 

Or, choose "Submit To Community" to get it featured on iWearSin.com's website.

Once your design is featured, get all your friends to "Heart" it. 

'Cos the designer with the most "Heart"-s of the week gets a voucher worth USD50.

Pretty cool eh?

Oh, and you can actually earn money from this. 

If someone buys your design, you'd have a share in the profits.

And so, after hours of painstaking indecisiveness (the add-ons were just too pretty), I finally completed my design. 

So, what'cha think? 

I think my main concern in all of this was the quality of the customisation. Despite knowing that the add-ons would be hand sewn (which should mean that the stitching would be more solid) on the dress, I still had wild  images of the rosettes dropping off after one wash. I confess, I'm a little paranoid. So when the dress came I literally checked every single stitch.

And you know what? It's better than I expected. 

The material was surprisingly good. And the add-ons were made up of really good quality stuff. 

See that tiny bit of stitching there? That's one of the stitches for one of the rosettes in my design. It's so small, you can barely see it. That's a sign of skilful needlework right there.

Before I forget to mention, the dress arrived within a day. Despite knowing how fast the people at SIN work, I thought the customisation and all would've made shipping my dress a bit slower. Which is understandable. I'm glad to say that I was wrong, again.  

Needless to say, from the moment I had the dress, I was dying to put it on. I'll let the pictures do the talking. 

I'm especially obsessed with the back. Too cute!

I paired it with a pair of Mary Janes to bring out a a bit of a sweet, romantic, vintage vibe.

Of course, you could wear it the other way around. Just make sure you've got a tube top on, 'cos that V-shaped drop is deep. I think it'd look really sexy with a lace tube. Also, this dress is actually a bit short. So unless you're really petite (or if you're dying for some Marilyn Monroe action), it's best worn with a pair of tights. Black, white, or pastels would be perfect. But if you're feeling adventurous, try some neon coloured ones. Or, you could turn it into a top and wear a pair of mini shorts underneath. 

The conclusion? I love this new feature. It's the most innovative thing I've ever seen on the online clothes shopping scene. I mean, who'd have thought? I have a feeling this is gonna be the next biggest thing online. And to be able to maintain the quality and great service with this entirely new thing? That's something.

I love vintage film actors. I can't see why anyone wouldn't, either. Back then, women just seemed more refined and sophisticated. Everything from their hair down to their shoes had a certain air about them. The kind that could make you melt with just a single glance. They didn't need to show too much skin to be sexy in those days. They simply worked it. And the men were just too good looking to be true. Such chiselled good looks, such amazing.... Well, you get the picture. Sadly, they don't make them like they used to any more.

One of my all time favourite vintage film actresses, is Grace Kelly.

I'll be honest, I've never really seen a Grace Kelly movie, simply because it's difficult to come by vintage film   these days, and my dad somehow chucked all of his away to God knows which corner of the house. If there was any actress on earth who truly defined the essence of grace, elegance, sophistication and beauty, it was her.

A true style icon, no one could ever come close to what she had. Much like her namesake, she is Grace itself.

Her style is simplistic yet elegant with a touch of glamour. From the moment I first saw her, I felt as though there was something intriguing and completely untouchable about her. She sometimes seemed a little unreal. But I couldn't stop looking at her. Her blonde hair and striking blue eyes mesmerised me. Her sense of style has an air of timelessness about it. And is, needless to say, frequently imitated and used for inspiration even to this day.

Fashion Review: IWearSin - The English Rose

Now, I've made no secret of the fact that I'm a huge fan of iWearSin.com. So when they launched a completely new collection on their site, I was absolutely thrilled.

Introducing a completely new line of clothes with soft, demure, feminine features, iWearSin.com's newest collection is aptly named The English Rose. 

As I've mentioned before in my previous review for iWearSin.com, this is one online boutique that has always come up with completely unique pieces, every time. Needless to say, The English Rose Collection is no different. 

I'll be completely honest. I was stunned. I love the pieces. Every one of them. I love the soft pastels, the laces, and the flowy chiffon. From the moment I laid eyes on the new collection, I could already sense that they had a few best sellers right there. As always, iWearSin.com has never failed to amaze me.

As I looked through the entire collection, I was heavily reminded of afternoon tea parties with Dukes, Duchesses, and people of nobility. It's no wonder they named this collection "The English Rose".

And of course, I couldn't resist. I had to grab a few pieces for myself. All very impressive, quality superb as always, but we're not going to go into those today.

Here are my top 3 favourite pieces:

3. Almost A Lady Dress

Now isn't this the sweetest thing? This dress, along with Sweetness in Simplicity are probably the sweetest dresses of the collection. But if you asked my honest opinion, I prefer Almost a Lady. Why? Elementary, dear ones. You see that sash on the dress? You could get really creative with it, and tie it however you want. And I'm not talking about just the front and back. It's long enough that you can really play with it.

2. The Bold Lady Asymmetric Dress

Any Gossip Girl fans out there? Doesn't this just scream Serena Van Der Woodsen? Cos I can totally picture her wearing this. Between Serena and Blair, I've always favoured Serena's sense of style. So naturally, I fell completely in love with this. 

This beauty is a bustier dress featuring an almost-bare criss-cross back, and a deliciously flowy asymmetrical skirt overlay made of chiffon. I practically fantasize myself wearing this dress with a pair of killer heels every night since I laid my eyes on it. Can't you just imagine the beautiful way the skirt swishes and sways along with your body? I certainly can!

1. The English Rose

This is the first piece in the entire collection that caught my eye. I knew immediately that it was going to be sold out within days. And I was right. In approximately 3 days, The English Rose was no longer in stock. 

And can't you see why? It's simply one of the most gorgeous dresses I've ever seen! Correction, it's more than just a dress, it's a work of art. Simply beautiful. The beauty of it all just left me speechless. I honestly have no words for this. It's too beautiful! If you're looking to be the center of attention in an event of any sort, this is THE dress. 

Oh, and I've just found this out on iWearSin.com's Facebook page. Famous LookBooker, Charlotte Clothier got herself a specially customised version of The English Rose.

Ooh La La.

And based on what she's said on her LookBook post, I think she's pretty much in love with it too.

The conclusion? iWearSin.com has amazed me, once again. They've been doing so since I first found out about them, and they've been keeping it up very well. I can't wait for their next collection. I believe that it's going to be even better than the last.

I really don't think it's much of a competition, do you?

Alright, I know that the saying goes that men are visual creatures, and women are the more... Emotional ones. And that's a fact. But let's face it. First impressions count for everything. Studies show that the human brain takes 7 seconds to make a first impression.

Which is pretty much why men should definitely dress well. At any time, any place... Unless you're at home alone.

I mean, imagine if you were to meet the woman of your dreams.... And you bump into her on the street looking like this.

There has been much debate over metrosexuals over the years, I believe. Though it's slowly being accepted as a norm into society. Honestly, I think metrosexuals are hot. Guys who know how to take care of themselves are incredibly sexy. But, of course there are always exceptions to this rule. For example, guys who put on make up. Somehow, my brain registers that as gay.

No, I have nothing against gays. I just don't think a straight man can put on make up every day and still be straight.

And men who freak out completely when anyone touches a strand of their perfectly sculpted hair. I mean... Seriously? I'm a girl and I don't even freak out over mine that much.

As a matter of fact, I find it an extreme turn off. 

The conclusion? Yes, men should dress well, maintain their complexion and what not, that's completely fine. But overdoing it really just puts girls off. This girl anyway.

Fashion Review: PhatCulture.com (Spring/Summer 2012 Collection)

Honest to god, I've shopped at PhatCulture.com before. Multiple times, in fact. And I must say that they are most definitely one of the best blogshops I've shopped at. Excellent customer service (the owners are one of the nicest ones I've ever dealt with), and good quality clothes. So good, in fact, that you really have to be quick and literally monitor their updates because certain pieces get sold out overnight. I'm not kidding.

Recently, they've released their Spring/Summer 2012 Collection. Something I'm certain many PhatCulture fans have been anticipating.

And you know what? They most definitely did not disappoint.

This time round, their Spring/Summer Collection features a lot of soft, feminine pieces. Really in keeping with the softness and warmth of spring and summer. Reminds me of picnics and strolls in beautiful parks filled with lush green trees and flowers.

Now there have been many impressive pieces from their collection. But here are my top 3 favourites:

3. Spring Floral Kimono Playsuit

Personally, I'm not a fan of floral prints. Not because I think they're ugly, in fact I do own a few floral printed clothes. But I rarely wear them, simply because it's just not my style.  And the thing about me, is that I'm so finicky about buying clothes, that even if it's the exact type I want, but in a print I hated, I'd cast it aside like last year's rags. 

But I would actually consider buying this. 

And can't you see why? 

I love the loose kimono top and the flowy sleeves. Especially the flowy sleeves. Very nice indeed. And honestly, a girl can never have too many playsuits in her closet.

2. Glitter Asymmetrical Drape Dress

Simply beautiful. With its glittery knitted top, flowing down to a fluid, chiffon asymmetrical skirt, I can't see how anyone could hate this dress. I especially love the skirt. Such a beauty. 

This dress is perfect for wowing a hot date, a formal dinner or a day out with the girls. I'd have bought it too if it wasn't sold out on the very night it was released.

However, great news for PhatCulture addicts. They've managed to restock the dress and are currently taking exclusive pre-orders for this little darling. Stocks should arrive within 3-4 weeks. Now it may sound like a long time, but I think it's well worth the wait. Don't you agree?

1. Asymmetrical Sweetheart Cut-Out Tube Dress

Now I know that this dress has been out since last month. But it's still part of their Spring/Summer 2012 Collection. You know, when I first laid my eyes on this dress, I gasped. Such a vision of loveliness. It's been so long since the dress came into the picture and yet I still can't get it off my mind. 

This is one of those dresses that makes you look like an ethereal goddess. 

I love how it's sexy, and ethereal at the same time. The cut-outs at the side are so deliciously tantalising, and the skirt is just so romantically goddess-like that I can't help but love it completely. 

Great for formal events, romantic dinners or a picnic in the park. It's a good thing that PhatCulture.com managed to restock this item. It's a huge best-seller, in fact.

Fashion Review: The Blonde Asian

To those who have been wondering, no, this blog is not dead. Neither have I been abducted by aliens. It's been crazy lately, and I've had personal matters to attend to, hence the lack of updates. But rest assured, I will update as much as I can on a regular basis. To my readers (if I have any), I offer my sincerest apologies.

Now, let's begin.

Ahh.. That beautiful golden blonde hair. Reminds me of fairy tale princesses like Rapunzel and Sleeping Beauty. I think blonde hair is at its best when it's nice and curly. From the time I was old enough to walk, talk and read, I've always imagined blonde hair on Caucasians.

Never Asians.

If I ever made the awful mistake of dyeing my hair in this colour, I will move up to Mount Everest and live as a hermit till my hair colour fades.

Now I'm not saying it looks ugly on ALL Asians. There are always exceptions to this. But the Asians I've met who've actually dyed their hair blonde.... Well, let's just say they should really consider suing their hairstylist. 

Because blonde hair only ever looks good on Caucasians. No matter how fair an Asian is, it's rare to find anyone who has the skin tone of a White.

No, I am not hating on my own race. I'm merely stating my honest opinion.

When it comes to dyeing your hair, you want the hair colour to bring out not only your complexion, but your features as well. Any form of colour, and this includes clothes and make up, should always compliment you. Not overshadow you.

I find that Asians who dye their hair blonde, or light brown, look terribly washed out. Most of them, anyway.   Because it's too much of a contrast.

Yes, she is pretty. But her features look hidden. The hair colour drowns it all out. 

Again, I'm not saying that blonde hair looks ugly on ALL Asians. Because there are a few exceptions to this statement. I just haven't seen them yet. 

To any Asian who is reading this post, if you really want to go blonde, go right ahead. It's completely up to you. My advice is, however, pick the colour that best suits your skin tone. Because when it comes to fashion and beauty, sometimes it isn't necessarily about what you like, it's about what you can carry off, and what makes you look good. 

Sometimes, even the most hated dress in your closet can be the one outfit that you look best in. It happens.
