I have no freaking clue why overalls or pinafores should exist. DENIM overalls, especially. They make you look like a practicing hillbilly. If you're no older than 17, and unless you're forced to wear a school uniform, please do not prance around looking like an overgrown schoolgirl.
I can forgive the people who wear them in their teens. You're young, fine. Children who have been forced into them by their parents have no choice. But if you're over 20, for god's sake, stop pretending like you're still 16 going on 17. It's not cute. It's a freaking eyesore.
Hell, you're definitely not as innocent as a rose if you're already 20. What age is this again? Oh that's right, the 21st century.
Alright, so maybe they aren't as bad as they seem to be. Yes, some people can pull them off. Like Jennifer Aniston did when she was playing Rachel Green in Friends. But personally, I don't like them. I would not be caught dead in them. I suppose you'd have to have a certain kind of look for them.
Depending on the type of the pinafore or overall you're wearing. But on some people, please refrain from looking like an overgrown 4 year old. Or a hillbilly. Or a World War 2 (no offence whatsoever meant here it is a very respectable profession) nurse. Or a Victorian era schoolgirl. Or a suburban housewife.
Also, in the case of overalls, have you noticed how difficult it is to pee with those things? You'd have to literally strip yourself down.
Now, leopard print on women has always been a subject of debate in the fashion world. If done right, it can come off as luxurious, sexy and somewhat elegant. If done wrong, however, you might end up looking like a trashy transvestite.
So in conclusion, leopard print on women, do it right, then hell freaking yes, it will look extremely sexy.
But leopard print on men?
Please keep in mind that I am speaking of the print. Not of genuine fur. I am not an advocate of animal cruelty, and I will never, ever, wear genuine fur. I am strongly against wearing genuine fur on any part of your body.
I was going through the Burberry Men's Fall/Winter 2013 collection the other day, and I'll be really frank here, I would have loved it, until I saw the leopard print.

I don't know about you girls, but I find nothing manly about a man in leopard print, or animal print. It reminds me too much of cruel hunters who put animal heads on their walls as trophies. It is disgusting. True, a bit of animal print adds a touch of style. But all over? No. It's too overwhelming.
Personally, if a guy clad in animal print tried to ask me out on a date, no matter how hot he looks, I'd turn him down. Because at first glance, I would begin to question not only the sexuality of the man, I would also wonder if he was rendered temporarily blind when choosing his outfit for the day, and has not looked in the mirror since.

First off, hello dear readers! I'm finally back. Happy 2013! Good to see that we proved the Mayans wrong. No asteroid or earthquakes got us so, let's brace ourselves for a great year ahead, shall we?
Now for the blogpost.
Back in Spring/Summer 2012, pastels were the IT colours in Malaysia. Just, Malaysia. The neon trend, as far as my powers of observation go, was never really much of a thing until quite recently. Personally, I love colours.
While I am a staunch believer in the fact that monochromes, and black and white are pretty much evergreen, they tend to get boring after a bit. A splash of colour in any outfit makes it stand out a lot more, don't you agree?

However, if you wanted my personal opinion, I would not be caught dead in neon. At least not all over me. Perhaps an accessory or two, but no, not my entire ensemble. I say this for one very simple reason:
1. Neon colours are essentially highlighter colours. I do not want to look like a highlighter.
2. Neon colours can make you look like a brightly lit sign post. I do not want to look like a brightly lit sign post.
3. Neon colours are extremely difficult to carry off. You need a certain skin tone to carry it off. Either really fair or really dark. I am tanned. Stuck in the middle, I am too lazy to figure out the colour scheme at the moment.
But that's my personal opinion.
I don't deny, however, that neon colours can make your outfit very interesting. Given that they give it a very attractive pop of colour, it's a great way to light up a plain coloured ensemble. You just really need to know how to wear the colour.

The safest way to wear neon, I believe, is as an accessory. That is not to say I am afraid of experimenting with my clothes, nor unwilling to wear bright colours. I am, but with certain conditions. It is an absolute fashion crime to walk out of your house looking like a highlighter. It really is.
So if you're a little safe (like me, I contradict myself), try wearing a simple black dress with a bright neon clutch, or a white top and jeans with a bright pink neon necklace or earrings. Choose a part of your outfit that you want to stand out, and you'll look amazing.

However, that is not to say that one cannot look good when one is completely clad in neon. You just need a lot of guts and a very VERY good sense of colour coordination, pairing and a clear idea of what looks good against your skin tone, and what doesn't. It also helps when you have a certain type of personality. You cannot be an unhappy emo goth chick who looks like she is going to commit suicide at any time and expect to look good in neon.

So, yesterday (if you've read) I've mentioned about an entry related to the picture I posted on my previous entry. Hence, as promised, here it is.
Now, the secondhand online shopping thing, is nothing new in Malaysia. There have been tons of secondhand/thrift shopping sites before. As well as a few thrift stores here and there, if you know where to look. I've got no issues with thrift shopping. In fact, I believe that you'd find more gems thrift shopping than you do in regular shopping.
However, My main issue with thrift shopping online, is that people who sell their stuff online aren't easily scouted out. Oh there are a few, but it tends to get messy jumping from site to site, which can be a bit of inconvenience to some.

A hub for everyone to sell, swap, or give away their preloved items (clothes, shoes, accessories and whatnot) and make friends at the same time.
Which, in my opinion, is very very convenient. But convenience aside, I thought the idea was brilliant. This is a site that actually brings fashion addicts together, not only to unload their "I-Loved-Once-But-Not-Anymore" stuff, but also to allow them to pick up fashion ideas from each other. Inspiring, really.
There's even a blog where the crew from FriendlyFashion.my frequently post up ideas on how to style the clothes on their site. Very helpful, really.

The structure of the website is clean and well organised. When I came on to the site for the very first time, I found navigation very simple.

The Experience:
Shopping at FriendlyFashion.my has been surprisingly addictive. I've found a lot of gems that I've been looking for for the longest time, but are either sold out, or way out of my price range. The vendors I've dealt with so far are very very friendly. My shopping experience there has been quick, painless, and altogether satisfying. The items arrived in very good condition so I'm very happy. Oh, and if you aren't satisfied with the prices, you can always bargain.
I would showcase my purchases one by one, but that might make my entry a little bit too long (I've splurged a bit too much on this site... It's THAT addictive. And everything is so cheap!). So with the help of Elaine Chooi, a great friend of mine and an amazing photographer, I've done up a lookbook based entirely on the clothes I got from FriendlyFashion.my.

Everything you see here, except the black inner tank top, is thrifted. I've put the American Flag cropped top together with the ripped ombre shorts for a bit of a grunge-rock and roll look. And as you can see, they fit me perfectly.
Style #2
The bra top and the high waisted shorts are both found from the site. I suppose you could say that this look was based off a vintage pin-up girl with a slight twist of modernity. And yes, the clothes fit me perfectly.
On a side note, both the ombre shorts and high waisted tribal print shorts were bought from the very same vendor. This girl takes old denim and DIY-s them into really pretty shorts like these. You can check out her Facebook page here.

Asymmetricallity. It's all over the place. Almost any one who's been in-tune with the fashion scene would know that the trend has officially taken the fashion world by storm. If you don't, well... May the ghost of Coco Chanel haunt you for all your days.
Of course, there have been a variety of asymmetrical clothes. But the one I'm gonna talk about today, is the asymmetrical skirt.

While some may deem it weird, I actually find it beautiful. Sure, it's unusual. But it's interesting. It makes your ensemble interesting. And lord knows how much we need this on the fashion scene. A girl who rocks the asymmetrical skirt right, will have tons of admiring glances where ever she goes.
I mean, look at it. There's just something about that piece of flowy, floaty, dream-like skirt that makes the entire outfit look altogether lovelier. The way it flows along with your body as you move, makes you almost queen-like.

However, this is a downside to this beauty. Because it's so unusual, it's a bit difficult to find the right type. You see, not all of us are born with perfect bodies. So the same skirt can look different on different girls. The asymmetrical skirt pretty much draws attention to the legs. So if you're leggy, great. You can pretty much carry off any asymmetrical skirt.

If you're a bit skinny, get a skirt with ruffles. It'll give you a fuller look. But if you're a little on the chubby side, try to avoid asymmetrical skirts with long hems. Get the ones with shorter hems, preferably up to the knee. And if you're petite, don't even consider wearing the skirt with flats. Go with the highest heels you have. Stumpy is not and never will be the new sexy. Period. Neither is dumpy.
The only exception to this rule, is if you have the body of a supermodel, or the asymmetrical skirt you have is short-hemmed. But then again, the asymmetrical skirt is typically worn with heels. Go with simple heels, by the way. No neon coloured or out of this world shoes, sister. You do not want to draw attention away from the skirt. You can, however, pair the skirt with boots, which looks super cool. Note: Only do this if you possess va-va-voom legs, or slim legs at least. You'll want admiring glances, not gawking haters.

Now, despite how difficult the skirt can be, you'd be surprised at how versatile it is. It depends on what look you're going for, really. A simple tank top, heels, a nice belt, and good bag is perfect for a casual day out. Pairing a bustier top, a sash, heels and a clutch with the skirt spells romantic dinner date. It's easy to go from day to night with this skirt.

Hot. But with many, many, MANY conditions. It's a beautiful piece to add to your closet, but for the love of Anna Wintour, choose wisely.

Although this is the first time I've shopped at Bluey Joyce Boutique, this blogshop has been around for quite a while. I loved the design of their site. Simple, neat, with a bit of a vintage vibe. It goes with the name for their boutique.
After skimming through a few of their outfits, I've noticed that most of the stuff that they sell are along the lines of smart casual and formal wear. If you're looking towards jazzing up your workwear, this is the place to go.

Service:
Quick and efficient - pretty much sums up how their service has been like to me. My order was finalised and on its way to my doorstep within two hours. Correspondence has been very pleasant. So I'm very happy. What I liked most, however, is the systematic way they used in finalising orders from customers.
All order details were put into charts. Which made everything so much easier for me to read, as compared with certain blogshops that type all the orders out in sentences and paragraphs. I'm not saying that it's bad, it's just that I find this method much easier on the eyes.

The Savannah Toga Cape Top.
I was lucky enough to have gotten the very last piece.
I really couldn't help myself. I had vivid fantasies of myself looking gorgeous in this. I had to buy it immediately. You could wear it for either a day at the office, or a casual day out. Depending on how you wear it. Slacks or a pencil skirt for work, shorts or skinnies for play. This is a top that adds a touch of subtle elegance to your ensemble.
Made from about two layers of chiffon, the top is soft and fluid to the touch. I especially loved how the material moves and flows along with my body when I put it on.
The stitching of the top is done pretty well. It's safe to say that the top definitely wouldn't fall apart after a few washes. I actually believe it's quite durable.
The verdict:
I enjoyed my shopping experience, and I got a great top that's well worth my money. I love Bluey Joyce Online Boutique. It's one of those blogshops that sell clothes that are appropriate for both work and play. I especially recommend it for girls who are looking to spicing up their workwear. Now, I've made no secret of the fact that I'm a huge fan of iWearSin.com. So when they launched a completely new collection on their site, I was absolutely thrilled.
Introducing a completely new line of clothes with soft, demure, feminine features, iWearSin.com's newest collection is aptly named The English Rose.
As I've mentioned before in my previous review for iWearSin.com, this is one online boutique that has always come up with completely unique pieces, every time. Needless to say, The English Rose Collection is no different.
I'll be completely honest. I was stunned. I love the pieces. Every one of them. I love the soft pastels, the laces, and the flowy chiffon. From the moment I laid eyes on the new collection, I could already sense that they had a few best sellers right there. As always, iWearSin.com has never failed to amaze me.
As I looked through the entire collection, I was heavily reminded of afternoon tea parties with Dukes, Duchesses, and people of nobility. It's no wonder they named this collection "The English Rose".
And of course, I couldn't resist. I had to grab a few pieces for myself. All very impressive, quality superb as always, but we're not going to go into those today.
Now isn't this the sweetest thing? This dress, along with Sweetness in Simplicity are probably the sweetest dresses of the collection. But if you asked my honest opinion, I prefer Almost a Lady. Why? Elementary, dear ones. You see that sash on the dress? You could get really creative with it, and tie it however you want. And I'm not talking about just the front and back. It's long enough that you can really play with it.
Any Gossip Girl fans out there? Doesn't this just scream Serena Van Der Woodsen? Cos I can totally picture her wearing this. Between Serena and Blair, I've always favoured Serena's sense of style. So naturally, I fell completely in love with this.
This beauty is a bustier dress featuring an almost-bare criss-cross back, and a deliciously flowy asymmetrical skirt overlay made of chiffon. I practically fantasize myself wearing this dress with a pair of killer heels every night since I laid my eyes on it. Can't you just imagine the beautiful way the skirt swishes and sways along with your body? I certainly can!
This is the first piece in the entire collection that caught my eye. I knew immediately that it was going to be sold out within days. And I was right. In approximately 3 days, The English Rose was no longer in stock.
And can't you see why? It's simply one of the most gorgeous dresses I've ever seen! Correction, it's more than just a dress, it's a work of art. Simply beautiful. The beauty of it all just left me speechless. I honestly have no words for this. It's too beautiful! If you're looking to be the center of attention in an event of any sort, this is THE dress.
Oh, and I've just found this out on iWearSin.com's Facebook page. Famous LookBooker, Charlotte Clothier got herself a specially customised version of The English Rose.

Honest to god, I've shopped at PhatCulture.com before. Multiple times, in fact. And I must say that they are most definitely one of the best blogshops I've shopped at. Excellent customer service (the owners are one of the nicest ones I've ever dealt with), and good quality clothes. So good, in fact, that you really have to be quick and literally monitor their updates because certain pieces get sold out overnight. I'm not kidding.
Recently, they've released their Spring/Summer 2012 Collection. Something I'm certain many PhatCulture fans have been anticipating.
And you know what? They most definitely did not disappoint.
This time round, their Spring/Summer Collection features a lot of soft, feminine pieces. Really in keeping with the softness and warmth of spring and summer. Reminds me of picnics and strolls in beautiful parks filled with lush green trees and flowers.
Now there have been many impressive pieces from their collection. But here are my top 3 favourites:
3. Spring Floral Kimono Playsuit
Personally, I'm not a fan of floral prints. Not because I think they're ugly, in fact I do own a few floral printed clothes. But I rarely wear them, simply because it's just not my style. And the thing about me, is that I'm so finicky about buying clothes, that even if it's the exact type I want, but in a print I hated, I'd cast it aside like last year's rags.
But I would actually consider buying this.
And can't you see why?
I love the loose kimono top and the flowy sleeves. Especially the flowy sleeves. Very nice indeed. And honestly, a girl can never have too many playsuits in her closet.

2. Glitter Asymmetrical Drape Dress
Simply beautiful. With its glittery knitted top, flowing down to a fluid, chiffon asymmetrical skirt, I can't see how anyone could hate this dress. I especially love the skirt. Such a beauty.
This dress is perfect for wowing a hot date, a formal dinner or a day out with the girls. I'd have bought it too if it wasn't sold out on the very night it was released.
However, great news for PhatCulture addicts. They've managed to restock the dress and are currently taking exclusive pre-orders for this little darling. Stocks should arrive within 3-4 weeks. Now it may sound like a long time, but I think it's well worth the wait. Don't you agree?

Now I know that this dress has been out since last month. But it's still part of their Spring/Summer 2012 Collection. You know, when I first laid my eyes on this dress, I gasped. Such a vision of loveliness. It's been so long since the dress came into the picture and yet I still can't get it off my mind.
This is one of those dresses that makes you look like an ethereal goddess.
I love how it's sexy, and ethereal at the same time. The cut-outs at the side are so deliciously tantalising, and the skirt is just so romantically goddess-like that I can't help but love it completely.
Great for formal events, romantic dinners or a picnic in the park. It's a good thing that PhatCulture.com managed to restock this item. It's a huge best-seller, in fact.

In this gorgeous dress fresh off the runways of Givenchy Haute Couture, Zoe was the one star that shone the brightest that night. The dress compliments her willowy figure so well, that the very moment I saw her, my jaw dropped. I just knew I had to put her in the number 1 slot. I had a look at the dress on runway, and I think she carries it even better than the models did. Beautiful. So beautiful, she looks unreal.
